From another point of view…

“-So, where are you from?
-Poland
-Oh, Holland!
- …”

Yeah, that happens a lot. I know that it does not surprise you wherever you come from. C’mon, maybe you do know the capital city of Poland (yes, WARSAW) and you’ve probably heard about the President’s plane crash in Smolensk, but Poland has never been a popular country (OK, everybody knows Polish Vodka also). Does it sound to you like a perfect holiday destination? I bet you don’t think so… Maybe it is time to change your opinion, huh? Oh, and by the way, don’t worry – there are NO polar bears on the streets. FEEL INVITED.

What does it have to do with Economics? If you think that I created this blog only to convince you to come to Poland – you are wrong (even if you realize soon that this country is really worth visiting). I just wanted to comment on an interesting website – about, surprisingly – Holidays in Poland! What makes it even more fascinating… these are holidays for people over 50s.  And here comes BUSINESS.

In my opinion this is actually a great idea. The company offers not only accommodation with full-board and airport transport but also many kinds of courses and therapies. With the increasing life-expectancy and general society aging, services for older people are getting more and more popular AND needed.  It is not only about healthcare but also travel and education. These people finally have time to relax and have fun. Why not to help them live their dreams?

From the economic point of view prospects for development in this business are huge and unavoidable. It will not end with travel. I can’t wait to see cinemas with over-50’s-movies, radio and TV shows for mature-and-looking-for-fun. Who knows what else… There is no way to stop it and the best thing to do is to deal with it and find out more creative ideas.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want Poland to become a country known for being heaven for over-50’s but with so many beautiful spots, low prices and high quality, great opportunities for relaxing in quiet places,  I have no doubts about one thing – in a few years nobody will confuse Poland with the Netherlands.

That’s what I think.
